How to check Er40 problem?

Version 7.1 by xingzhi lin on 2026/01/20 10:25

For specific description kindly check:10 Malfunctions - Wecon

If Er40 appears after the drive is first installed or after disconnecting and reconnecting the encoder cable. Not only the Er40 need to be reset, but the absolute position of the encoder also needs to be reset. Set P10-6=1 to reset encoder, P10-3=1 to reset the error, then repower the drive.

Information

Note: When P10-06 is set to 1, the absolute position of the encoder will change abruptly, and you will need to perform a mechanical origin reset operation.

If Er40 appears on a drive that has been used for a long time (normally 2 to 3 years), it is very likely caused by a depleted battery. And usually, an A92(low encoder battery voltage warning) alarming appeared before Er40. If the voltage of battery is lower than 3.1V, you need to replace the battery, battery specifications are shown in the table below.

Battery selection specificationItemValue

Nominal Voltage: 3.6V

Nominal capacity: 2700mAh

Standard battery voltage (V)3.6
Standard cell voltage (V)3.1
Battery ambient temperature range0 to 40
Battery storage ambient temperature range-20 to 60

The batteries we use are from this brand; you can click this link to view their specifications. I believe most batteries that meet the specifications should also work properly.

If the voltage of battery is normal, P10-6=1 and P10-3=1 are also set and repower the drive, but Er40 still happen. Then you need to set P0-33 to 1 and repower the drive 2 times.

Information

Note: P0-33 is used to automatically clear Er40 when the driver is powered on. But clearing does not mean disabling it. Er40 will be recorded in the historical fault monitoring data. And this parameter is supported on VD3E 1.14 version.
