Pass-through of device
Note: The pass-through operation steps of V-NET/V-IEC are for reference only.
Pass-through function: The pass-through function allows applications on the computer to increase maintenance value through RE devices, remote pass-through devices, download projects, etc.
Device status description table is as follows:
Color | Color Value (HEX) | Status | Description |
![]() | #18E600 | Online | Pass-through available |

![]() | #109A00 | Download is ready. | Download channel is ready. (Download can be executed.) |
![]() | #009577 | Download | In download |
Pass-through precautions:
● The web cannot use the pass-through function for the time being, and it needs to be in the PC client to change the location.
● When the device is offline, “Start pass-through” cannot be clicked.
● When the device firmware version is too low, “Start pass-through” cannot be clicked.
● The current user does not have pass-through rights on this device or this device is shared by others, and “Start pass-through” cannot be clicked.
● When the current user has a device in pass-through, “Start pass-through” cannot be clicked.
Device pass-through download (RE)
The pass-through function allows applications on the computer to download projects to RE device remotely pass-through through Ethernet.
Steps:
① Click to enter the pass-through interface.
② Select the device that needs pass-through, and ensure that the device is online.
③ Click "Browse" to automatically detect the installed download tools on this machine. The table shows the versions and locations of all installed download tools. (HMI software should be installed in the computer to ensure that HMIEditor and download tools exist at the same time).
④ Select any HMI download tool configuration in the table, and confirm the selected HMIEditor software through the folder location and corresponding version information.
⑤ Pass-through is ready → [Start pass-through].
●Click "Start pass-through" to conduct pass-through according to the specified download tools and selected devices.
●Click [End pass-through] to end pass-through.
⑥ After pass-through is successful, pop up the download tool box, select [PC->HMI], select the compiled .wmt3 file, and download the program.
Common serial port pass-through (PLC)
Based on the normal communication between RE device and PLC or other device, PLC is connected according to the generated virtual serial port, allowing the PLC software on the computer to communicate and connect with the PLC, and completing the functions of uploading/downloading PLC programs and monitoring PLC programs.
Steps:
① Virtual serial port settings: Click [Settings] →[Virtual Serial Port]→[Enable Virtual Serial Port] →[Select Serial Port]. Pay attention to the serial port, please do not reuse it. (When the COM port is changed, if a PLC or other software is connecting to the original COM port, it will be disconnected.)
② Remote download configuration: Click [PLC pass-through ] →Select the device that requires pass-through→[New/Edit]→[New Template] Configure pass-through parameters: [Name], [Communication Port], [Connection Method], [Baud Rate], [Stop Bit], [Data Bit], [Check Bit], the configured parameters need to be consistent with the PLC serial port parameters →[OK]→Prompt "Add successfully!"→[OK].
③ Pass-through steps: On the pass-through interface, click [Start pass-through]→after successful pass-through, it will prompt "pass-through succeeded"→[OK].
④ After the pass-through is successful, the indicator light of the corresponding RE device on the PC will turn blue, and the [current status] will become pass-through, indicating that the device is in the "pass-through" status.
✎Note: Do not click [End pass-through], otherwise you will exit the pass-through function.
⑤End pass-through: When the PLC software completes the remote operation, select [End pass-through]→Prompt "End pass-through successfully"→[OK], at this time the device will automatically restart. After the restart is completed, the working status before pass-through will be restored.
Pass-through Precautions:
① In the process of PLC software remote access, the pass-through serial port of the RE device needs to maintain a normal communication state, and the network state needs to remain stable.
② When the device is in the pass-through, COM indicator light will be in the off status. When the device ends the pass-through, it will automatically restart.
③ The parameters of the PLC connection need to be consistent with the parameters generated by the virtual serial port.
④ It is necessary to ensure that the PLC serial port of pass-through can support the upload/download function, otherwise the remote pass-through function cannot be realized.
VPN pass-through (PLC)
VPN pass-through: The pass-through function allows the application program on the computer to directly control the PLC device through the RE device, upload/download PLC programs, monitor PLC programs or other configuration information, etc.
Steps:
① Click [VPN pass-through] →Select the device that requires pass-through →[Local pass-through IP]→[Automatic acquisition/manual setting]→[Manual setting] 192.168.40.23 (Manual IP setting needs to ensure that it is on the same network segment as the RE device and device IP)→[Start pass-through]→Prompt "Pass-through succeeded"→[OK].
② After pass-through is successful, the indicator light of the corresponding RE device on the PC will turn yellow, and [current status] will become in the VPN pass-through, indicating that the device is in the "pass-through" status. (Note: You cannot click [End pass-through], otherwise you will exit the pass-through.)
③ After the pass-through is successful, a virtual network card will be generated. You can check whether the IP is generated through the network card of the computer, as shown below.
④ When PLC software completes the remote operation, select [End pass-through]→Prompt "End VPN pass through successfully"→[OK], at this time the device will automatically restart, and after the restart is completed, the working status before pass-through will be restored.
Pass-through precautions:
① The Ethernet port IP of RE device, the IP used by the VPN pass-through, and the IP of the PLC must be kept in the same network segment without conflict.
② The IP connected to the PLC needs to be consistent with the IP of the PLC itself.
③ When the device ends the pass-through function, RE device will automatically restart.
④ If the VPN pass-through is unsuccessful, please refer to the "Frequently Asked Questions of Wecon VPN pass-through Tools" for troubleshooting.

Resumable upload
3000ig/8000ig HMI and RE/RH,E/H V-BOX can support a function for resumable upload. The function is to save lost data when the device is offline and upload lost data to Cloud when the device is online again.
The following table shows the maximum number of the resumable data and the biggest file size of the resumable data:
RE/RH | 3000ig/8000ig HMI | E/H V-BOX | |
---|---|---|---|
data | 100,000 | 100,000 | 2,000 |
file size | 2M | 2M | N/A |
Remote Background
R series box doesn’t have the actual screen, so a new remote page is designed for background setting if user want to change some background parameters.
Enter remote background
Keep R series/HMI and pc in the same Lan. Input "IP:9091" in pc webpage.
There will be a User login screen and input Account and Password.
Modify account and password
Project Settings → Security→ LAN Monitoring Security→ OK → Compile and Download the project
Centralized Monitor
In HMI V3.0 version, there will be a Device management tool for centralized monitoring Local and Cloud device. When HMIs and PC are in the same LAN, they can be selected for centralized monitor.
Local Device
Download → choose monitored HMIs
Cloud Device
Cloud Linker →log in → select the server in configuration→ log in V-net Client account
After logging in the account, select monitored HMIs.
In Centralized monitor screen, selected HMI project will be display here. What's more, these projects can be operated in the screen.
